Serving the Church of England's ecumenical and inter-Church
relationships
The Church of England is committed to fostering the visible
unity of presently separated Christian churches.
The Council for Christian Unity (CCU) supports the Church of
England in seeking the unity of the Christian Church through
ecumenical conversations, local unity initiatives, theological
research and reflection.
In matters of theology, the House of Bishops and CCU support the
Faith and Order Commission
CCU's practical work includes:
- Ecumenical Relations in England
- Ecumenical Relations in Europe
- Local Unity in Mission
- Faith and Order
CCU provides resources offering practical advice and theological
reflection on a range of ecumenical matters and also produces a
variety of papers and publications.
The Church of England is in communion with Churches and
Provinces of the Anglican Communion and with a number of other
overseas Churches. CCU works closely with the Anglican Communion
Office on Faith, Order and Unity.
CCU serves the Church of England as a member of the World
Council of Churches, the Conference of European Churches, Chuches
Togerther in Britain and Ireland and Churches Together in
England.
The Council forms part of the Central Secretariat of the
Archbishops' Council of the Church of England and reports to the
General Synod through the Archbishops' Council.
