The Ecumenical Instruments

  The Council for Christian Unity serves the Church of England as a member of the Ecumenical Instruments.

The Ecumenical Instruments are fellowships of churches, confessing the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures, and seeking to fulfil together their common calling to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Churches Together in England (CTE)

  • CTE is the national body set up by the churches in 1990, and has partner bodies in Scotland, Wales and Ireland. For more information click on the link on the right

Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI)

  • CTBI is the successor body to the British Council of Churches, and co-ordinates the work of the four nations.

The Conference of European Churches (CEC)

  • CEC came into being after the Second World War for the churches to support one another in the exercise of the ministry of reconciliation incumbent on them all. For more information click on the link on the right

The World Council of Churches (WCC)

  • The WCC brings together 349 churches, denominations and church fellowships in more than 110 countries and territories throughout the world. For more information click on the link on the right
