In 2007, the Pastoral and Closed
Churches Department continued its programme of diocesan seminars,
Partnership and Progress, in conjunction with the National
Advisor for Mission and Evangelism of the Archbishops' Council.
Nine further seminars were held (10 in 2006) exploring existing
legislative scope for innovative local arrangements to facilitate
the "mixed economy" of fresh expressions of church alongside
historic parochial structures. The seminars also examined the role
of local church buildings in mission and the challenge of securing
new uses where these are no longer required for public worship.
