21/12/09 - Updated Code of Recommended Practice to the
Pastoral Measure 1983: December 2009
The Code of Practice to the Pastoral Measure 1983 has recently
been updated, primarily to take account of those provisions in the
Dioceses, Pastoral and Mission Measure 2007 which either amended or
had an impact on the 1983 Measure. The 5th Edition (December 2009)
is available from our website here.
A draft consolidation Measure, the draft Pastoral and Mission
Measure, is currently working its way through General Synod. This
will consolidate all legislative amendments since 1983 and will
involve significant reordering. We intend to take the
opportunity of the consolidation Measure for a more radical review
of the guidance material available, including that covered in the
Code itself.
In the meantime we have tried to make the updated Code to the
1983 Measure easier to navigate and more user-friendly. As part of
this we have separated most of the appendices, including standard
forms and letters, from the main text of the Code so that they are
more accessible.
