The Parochial Expenses of the Clergy
The booklet The parochial expenses of the clergy- A guide to
their reimbursement gives guideance to parochial clergy
and PCC treasurers about the reimbursement of expenses. The latest
edition is dated 2006, but there have been some minor amendments
made to the booklet to reflect, for example, name and address
changes (e.g. to reflect the change of the name of the Inland
Revenue to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs).(latest change made
21 November 2011)
If clergy do not claim all their expenses, or their expenses are
not fully reimbursed, they are receiving less than their full
stipend. PCCs should be committed to reimbursing clergy expenses in
full.
The parochial expenses of the clergy- A guide to their
reimbursement booklet is available
by clicking on the links in the Resources box. One link gives the
full text, others give access to different sections of the booklet.
There is a separate link to the suggested claim form.
There is also a link to a guidance note about mileage rates
which covers the implications for clergy if rates are used greater
than those allowed tax-free by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs,
and also the tax rules for additional rates for passengers.
