Common Tenure on two sides of A4 (PDF-28.63KB)
Church of England

A new form of tenure for clergy office holders called Common Tenure is due to take effect from 31 January 2011. Clergy and other office holders will continue to be appointed as vicars, rectors, assistant curates, priests in charge and so on. Under these new arrangements, a post may only be limited to a fixed term in certain specified circumstances and the great majority of office holders may remain in a particular post until they resign or retire.

The Testing of Vocation Flyer (PDF-1.13MB)
Ministry Division

The Testing of Vocation - 100 years of ministry selection in the Church of England - by Robert Reiss 2013 marks the centenary of the Church of England's established process for selecting candidates for ordained ministry - a process that the Ministry Division still uses today. The Testing of Vocation is a comprehensive study and essential reference volume for historians and all students of vocation and ministry in today's Church. It explores in detail the Church of England's concept of vocation and how it has developed in response to changes in society, from the aftermath of two world wars and declining numbers, to the ordination of women and the advent of non-stipendiary ministry.
