Theological Consultant to the House of Bishops and Theological Secretary to the Council for Christian Unity appointed

Dr Martin Davie, Lecturer in Doctrine and Church History and Head of Postgraduate Studies Teaching at Oak Hill Theological College, has been appointed to the joint post of Theological Consultant to the House of Bishops and Theological Secretary to the Council for Christian Unity. He succeeds Professor Gareth Jones, who has been appointed to a Chair of Christian Theology at Christ Church University College, Canterbury.

Dr Davie has taught systematic and historical theology at Oak Hill Theological College and is a member of the Faith and Order Advisory Group of the Council for Christian Unity.

The Bishop of Chester (Chairman of the House of Bishops' Theological Group) and the Bishop of Peterborough (Chairman of the Council for Christian Unity) both expressed their delight and pleasure at the appointment.

The Revd Dr David Peterson, the Principal of Oak Hill, said that it was an honour for the College to have one of its tutors appointed to such an important role in the life of the Church.
Dr Davie takes up his new post on 1 February 2000.
