TERMS OF OFFICE OF ARCHBISHOPS' COUNCIL ELECTED MEMBERS
IN THE NEXT QUINQUENNIUM (GS 1779)
The Archbishop of York moved:
'That this Synod approve the recommendations contained the
paragraph 6 of GS 1779.'
Following debate, the motion was carried.

The Rt Revd Michael Perham (Bishop of Gloucester) (Chair of the
Revision Committee) moved the report.
Following debate, the report was carried by the Synod.
CLERGY
PENSIONS: CHANGES TO THE PENSIONS SCHEME: REPORT FROM THE
ARCHBISHOPS' COUNCIL (GS 1780)
A motion was moved by Dr Jonathan Spencer (Chair of the Church
of England Pensions Board), and after debate the motion was
carried by the Synod in the following amended form:
'That this Synod:
(a) That this Synod endorse the recommendations contained in
paragraph 31 of GS 1780.
(b) invite the Archbishops' Council's Deployment, Renumeration
and Conditions of Service Committee
(i) to convene a small working group to consider the effect that
these recommendations will have on the performance, deployment and
morale of clergy and on the wider mission of the church and
(ii) in the light of the group's findings, to offer guidance on
these matters to bishops and archdeacons within the next two
years.'
LEGISLATIVE BUSINESS
A number of changes related to the Rules of the Church of
England Pensions Board were carried by the Synod.
