AMENDING CANON NO 29 (GS 1639D)

The Archbishop of York moved a motion 'That the Canon entitled "Amending Canon No 29" be promulged and executed'.

The motion was carried without debate.

 

THE ECCLESIASTICAL OFFICES (TERMS OF SERVICE)(AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2010 (GS 1783)

The Rt Revd Richard Frith (Bishop of Hull) moved a motion 'That the Ecclesiastical Offices (Terms of Service)(Amendment) Regulations 2010 be considered'.

Following debate, the motion was carried.

The Rt Revd Pete Broadbent (Bishop of Willesden) moved an amendment to Regulation 6 of the Regulations.

Following debate, the amendment was carried.

The Rt Revd Richard Frith (Bishop of Hull) moved a motion 'That the Ecclesiastical Offices (Terms of Service)(Amendment) Regulations 2010 be approved'.

OUR FELLOWSHIP IN THE GOSPEL: REPORT OF A JOINT STUDY GROUP BETWEEN THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND AND THE CHURCH OF SCOTLAND (GS 1792)

The Rt Revd Christopher Hill (Bishop of Guildford) moved a motion 'That this Synod welcome the recommendations outlined in the final section of the Report (Pathways to Partnership: Practical Steps)'.

DIOCESAN SYNOD MOTIONS

DEANERY SYNODS ( GS 1773A and GS 1773B)

A motion was moved by the Revd Mark Beach (Coventry), and after debate the motion was carried by the Synod in the following amended form:

'That this Synod

(a) welcome the wide measure of discretion that each diocese has to determine the extent of any delegation of functions to deaneries;

(b) note the increasing range of legal vehicles available to deaneries where it is agreed that a more executive role may help in promoting the mission of the Church; and

(c) invite the Archbishops' Council, in consultation with the House of Bishops, to produce updated guidance on available options, with examples of how recent pratice has been developing.'

ARCHBISHOPS' COUNCIL'S ANNUAL REPORT (GS 1794)

The Archbishop of York gave a presentation, and a panel answered questions on the work of the Council.

Andreas Whittam Smith (First Estates Commissioner) gave a presentation, and he and Timothy Walker (Third Estates Commissioner) answered questions on the work of the Commissioners.
