moved:
'That the Synod do take note of this
Report.'
The motion was carried.
A member of the Steering Committee
moved, subject to the provisions of SO 61(b):
'That the Measure entitled "Church of
England Marriage (Amendment) Measure" be finally approved.'

LITURGICAL BUSINESS
Additional Eucharistic
Prayers - Draft
Texts for First Consideration by the House of Bishops
The Chair of the Steering Committee,
the Bishop of Wakefield, the Rt Revd Stephen Platten, moved:
'That the liturgical business entitled
"Additional Eucharistic Prayers" be considered for revision in
committee.'
Following debate, the motion was
clearly carried.

DIOCESAN SYNOD MOTION - HOUSE OF LAITY ELECTIONS
Mr Clive Scowen(London) moved on
behalf of the London Diocesan Synod:
'That this Synod request the Business
Committee to commission a thorough review of how the House of Laity
of this Synod and the houses of laity of diocesan synods are
elected, particular consideration being given to whether the
electorate should be some body of persons other than the lay
members of deanery synods.'
A request was made to move to next business, which was lost.
The Revd Mark Beach (Coventry) moved
as an amendment:
'After the words "particular
consideration being given to" insert ": (a)"
And
At the end insert -
"; and
(b) ensuring that the diverse
membership of the Church of England is fully reflected and
represented.".'
Following discussion, the amendment
was clearly carried.
Following debate and a division of
Synod by House, the motion as amended was carried.
