The Archbishops' Council's newly appointed Head of Research and
Statistics is Dr Bev Botting, who takes up the post on Monday,
February 13th, succeeding the Revd Lynda Barley in the role.
Passionate about ensuring statistics and research are easily
understood, Bev was a statistician at the Office for National
Statistics for many years, variously leading on child health
statistics, advising on the use of data for medical research, and
leading on some of the country's large national social surveys;
most recently Bev worked at the National Centre for Social
Research, leading a programme to provide practical training in
survey research for post graduates and researchers early in their
career.
Dr Bev Botting said: "I am thrilled to be joining the
Archbishops' Council and look forward to building on previous work
using statistics to paint a picture of the Church community to
inform debates and policy."
Dr Colin Podmore, Director of the Central Secretariat of the
Archbishops' Council, said: "I am delighted that we have been able
to recruit Dr Botting to this important role. Her experience and
expertise will ensure that excellent research and statistics
continue to play their crucial part in informing the work of the
National Church Institutions."
