Postgraduate course developed for Church communicators

In a first for the UK, a professional qualification in Theology and Communication is in development by the University of Chester, in partnership with the Church of England.

A new prayer to help people pray for those getting engaged to be married has been released by the Church of England, to acknowledge the fact that many people, women in particular, choose to propose on 29th February. It is one of a selection of prayers appearing in the new book Pocket Prayers of Blessing, compiled by the Ven Jan McFarlane, Archdeacon of Norwich.

The Bishop of Carlisle, the Rt Revd James Newcome, is giving his support to a petition, set up by the charity Age UK, calling on the Government to reform the care system for older and disabled people so that everyone gets the care they need to live with respect and dignity.

‘Shrug culture’ over climate change challenged by Ash Wednesday Declaration

One in three planning to observe Lent don’t know what to give (or take) up survey finds – as Church House Publishing launches Reflections for Lent app

As the nation prepares to cook pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, over 20 per cent of adults are planning to observe the season of Lent, although nearly one in three of them don’t know what to ‘give up’ or ‘take up’, according to a new survey. Church House Publishing commissioned the survey to study the nation’s Lenten habits as it launches a new iPhone app - Reflections for Lent - containing daily reflections on Bible passages by leading authors.
