OF WOMEN) MEASURE:
DRAFT CODE OF PRACTICE (GS Misc 1007)
The Rt Revd Nigel Stock (Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich
and Chair of the Working Group on an Illustrative Draft Code of
Practice) gave a presentation on the Draft Code of Practice under
SO 97 and took questions.

Order made under section 11 of the Ecclesiastical
Offices (Terms of Service) Measure 2009
The Bishop of Ripon & Leeds moved:
'That the Ecclesiastical Offices (Terms of Service)
Consequential Provisions) Order 2012 be considered.'
Following debate, the motion was carried.
Mr Clive Scowen (London) moved an amendment to the Order that
was carried and the Bishop of Ripon & Leeds (the Rt Revd John
Packer) then moved:
'That the Ecclesiastical Offices (Terms of Service)
Consequential Provisions) Order 2012 be approved.'
The motion was carried unamended

DIOCESAN SYNOD MOTION
APPOINTMENT OF ARCHDEACONS (GS 1846A and
GS 1846B)
The Revd Alastair Cutting moved
on behalf of the Chichester Diocesan Synod:
'That this Synod request that Canon C 22.1 be
amended to read "No person shall be capable of receiving the
appointment of archdeacon unless he has been six years complete in
holy orders at the time of appointment".'
Following debate, the motion was lost in a vote
by houses, the voting being:

for 21 against 0
abstentions
Clergy
31 for 118 against 1 abstention
Laity
53 for 84 against 9
abstentions
