A new interactive web resource www.worshipworkshop.org.uk
encouraging pupils to "play with liturgy" as part of collective
worship and RE has been launched at General Synod today.
The Resourcing Schools Worship Project is a collaboration
between the Archbishops' Council Education Division and National
Society, working with the Liturgical Commission and Royal School of
Church Music.
Pilot workshops held in schools showed how the website can help
pupils from Reception to Sixth Form write collects, prayers and
patterns for acts of school worship.
In a Church of England
podcast released today project manager
Robin Sharples explains that the new website is suitable for pupils
of all faiths and none and gives pupils the opportunity to play
with liturgy while exploring a range of issues.
"Our aim is to make worship a lively possibility for pupils
giving them the opportunity to ask and have questions answered,"
said Robin Sharples.
Mary Hawes the Church of England's national children's adviser
said: "I'm excited that this simple to use site will help children
and young people learn about and become more engaged with
worship."
