Our national recruitment service – Pathways – promotes open roles right across the Church of England. Some positions are unique to the Church, such as ordained ministry and lay leadership roles. Some are the kind of jobs you see in other organisations, such as financial accountants or communications specialists.

Opportunities are many and varied. Employers range from dioceses, cathedrals, palaces, dioceses and parishes, to the National Church Institutions based in Westminster, and mission agencies. As well as advertising the latest vacancies candidates can use Pathways to promote themselves. By creating a profile, users of the site can set up alerts for roles that match their preferences.

Clergy transitions service
We are launching a national transitions service for clergy in 2018 to help match people to posts. The specialist service will provide a confidential space for Church of England clergy who find themselves at a vocational crossroads, or who are seeking development by opening up access to a network of practitioners whilst gaining a fuller recognition of what God is calling them to do.

Sometimes we are not even aware of what we have and how it can be used in different ways. This service will help clergy reflect on their work and think about the next stage of their ministry.”

The National HR Department supports dioceses, bishops and cathedrals in achieving their strategies for mission and ministry by responding to the strategic internal and external challenges of the Church. The Clergy team delivers terms and conditions of service for clergy that recognises the uniqueness of the clergy role and reflects current good practise and expectations for work in a modern world.
