Solar panels on the tower roof of North Petherwin, St Paternus

When the existing wind turbine broke down beyond repair, the team at St Paternus came up with an innovative solution to continue producing renewable energy for their church. By adapting the existing structures to house more reliable solar panels, they ensured the long term sustainability of renewable energy production without affecting the character of the building.

The Grade I-listed church in the Diocese of Truro uses electric heating to keep parishioners warm during the winter, and on top of the energy produced on site, the church purchases the remaining power required from a green energy supplier.
