Grade I-listed church reduces emissions with PV panels and an air source heat pump

St Helena's South Scarle (Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham) is a village church which now benefits from extensive community use. A major re-ordering project presented them with the opportunity to replace the under-pew heaters with central heating and expand the possibilities for further community use.

With solar PV panels having been installed back in 2012, the church went forward with electricity powered air source heat pumps, connected up to under-floor heating to keep the building warm. With assistance from a supplementary oil boiler and radiators, as well as a draught-proofed nave, the heat pump has had positive effects for the entire community.
