Victoria's Story

Finding God in everyday life

Our first story about faith in everyday life is about Victoria. Victoria sees her job as a hairdresser as a vocation. She is cutting hair as a job – not just for the money, for the satisfaction of being creative or even for the genuine pride found in using her skills to help people feel good.

We all have a variety of roles to fulfil. Some might feel like a ‘vocation’ – something that we know God is calling us to undertake and through which we sense God at work. For Victoria, and maybe for each of us, understanding our vocation comes a layer at a time. The starting point – as in so many things – is prayer.

Victoria found a way to invite God into her everyday life by praying blessings on the people she served. That’s her secret. It’s a quiet practice of gift giving – a gift of blessing others through our talents and prayers.

Seeing God at work in our lives is often a hard thing to become aware of. Challenge yourself to look out for how God is working in your life; and share your everyday faith stories using #EverydayFaith on social media.

Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters, since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ.
