Pioneer ministry

Pioneers are called to connect with people beyond the existing church, and to form new expressions of Christian community. This can include church planting and starting new congregations, as well as developing fresh and contextual forms of church life.

They often:

  • build relationships in places where church is not yet present
  • create new ways for people to explore faith
  • respond creatively to what God is already doing

Pioneer ministry is shaped by listening, experimentation, and a willingness to try new things.

Some pioneers are ordained, and others are lay. Many work alongside local churches and communities.

This calling often suits those who are:

  • open to change and excited by new possibilities
  • drawn to connect with people beyond the church in meaningful ways
  • energised by starting new things and helping them grow
