I am Maria Onuigbo, Rector of the Resurrection and St Barnabas Eastlands in the Diocese of Manchester. I am originally from Finland.

I was ordained as a Distinctive Deacon in the ELCF 2002 and have worked as a deacon both in Finland and in the UK. I was ordained as a Priest in 2015 in Southwark Diocese where I served my curacy. In my current post I have been since 2018.

I am happy to mentor all God’s children, but particularly those from BAME or more working class backgrounds who are on the path of discernment towards ordained ministry and beyond.

As a mentor, I am friendly listening companion, who offers a non-judgemental space to the mentee to discern what God’s will is in their lives.

I am available for face-to-face mentoring during the week, daytime, or evenings if needed, in Manchester area. I’m happy to mentor both in English and in Finnish.

I am interested in both social justice and environmental questions. I am passionate about mission and enabling non-church people to know about God’s love for them in other ways than traditional Sunday morning service. I would describe myself as middle of the road Anglican with experiences from both the low and the high church traditions.

I am a relaxed and down to earth person, with a good sense of humour. I love a good cup of coffee and chat with friends.
