Rt Revd Jonathan Gibbs named as next Bishop of Rochester

The Rt Rev Jonathan Gibbs, is to be the next Bishop of Rochester, Downing Street has announced.

Bishop Jonathan, who is currently the Bishop of Huddersfield in the Diocese of Leeds and the Church of England’s Lead Bishop for Safeguarding, will succeed Rt Rev James Langstaff, who retired in July. 

The Diocese of Rochester, which serves a population of around 1.3 million people and covers 215 parishes across Medway, north and west Kent, and the London Boroughs of Bromley and Bexley.
