John Worth steps down as Chief Executive of the Church Commissioners

30/03/2026

John Worth is stepping down as the Church Commissioners for England's Chief Executive Officer.

Rosie Slater-Carr, Chief Operating Officer, will take over as Interim CEO. Poppy Allonby, Chief Investment Officer, will assume responsibility for all matters related to investments.

We will initiate a process to recruit a new CEO in due course.

The Church Commissioners contributes around 20% of the Church of England's annual funding needs, through the responsible investment of the Church’s £11.1bn in-perpetuity endowment fund. It also provides administrative support and expertise to the wider church.

We thank John for his work on behalf of the Church Commissioners and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
