The first-ever national SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) conference has taken place in London, drawing together nearly 200 inspectors from across the country. This landmark event highlighted the evolving role of SIAMS inspections in enhancing Church school education, with a focus on supporting students' holistic development.

The day featured sessions led by key speakers including Professor Trevor Cooling, The Bishop of Portsmouth, Jonathan Frost, and The Church of England’s Chief Education Officer, Nigel Genders.

Discussions centred around the role of SIAMS and its ongoing commitment to promoting excellence in education grounded in Christian values. The event followed the recent release of the SIAMS director’s report, which underscored the critical role inspectors play in maintaining high standards across Church of England and Methodist schools.

The Church of England’s Chief Education Officer, Nigel Genders, said: “The conference was an affirmation of the deep dedication and professionalism of our inspectors, whose work ensures that our schools remain places where every child can thrive academically, spiritually, and personally.”

The Conference took place at London's Union Chapel on Thursday 12 September.
