NEWS / The General Synod has today approved a motion moved by Ian Fletcher, from the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales, noting a rise in the number and seriousness of reported concerns about the impact of the Spare Room Subsidy, also known as the "Bedroom Tax" on the vulnerable and others.

NEWS / Synod voted today to take note of the report: Guidelines for the Professional Conduct of the Clergy. These are not a legal code but a set of draft guidelines, commended by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, describing what is desirable in the professional conduct of clergy.

NEWS / The Rt Hon Sir Tony Baldry MP has been appointed by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to become the next Chair of the Church Buildings Council when he stands down as Second Estates Commissioner at the end of this Parliament. He succeeds Anne Sloman OBE.
New lead bishop for Environmental Affairs

NEWS / The Bishop of Salisbury, the Rt Revd Nicholas Holtam, has accepted the invitation of the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to succeed the Bishop of London as the Church of England's lead bishop for Environmental Affairs with immediate effect.

NEWS / In May of this year the Rt. Revd. Paul Butler, the Bishop of Durham, who is the lead Church of England Bishop for safeguarding, initiated some early-stage work with an external safeguarding consultant to develop plans for a 'Safe Space' for reconciliation for survivors of abuse.
