The Church of England Pensions Board today has announced it will not support the Follow This Resolution at Shell’s forthcoming AGM. Adam Matthews, director of Ethics and Engagement, said:
"Shell is clearly the leading oil and gas company with the most comprehensive approach to climate as a result of Climate Action 100+ engagement. Substantial progress on climate has been made by the company as shown by its most recent announcement. We have previously supported Follow This resolutions but do not feel this resolution is needed at Shell and will only serve to distract management. Our preference is to continue our robust and effective engagement on climate change."
