In response to National Association of Head Teachers call for more male teachers in early years, the Church of England's Chief Education Officer Revd Nigel Genders said:
"We firmly endorse the call for more men to consider a call to early years teaching.
"In a complex world where children are looking for good role models and supportive relationships, we need more men and women to embrace the opportunity to make a transformative difference as early years teachers.
"Our vision for education promotes human flourishing of both children and adults and our schools provide a wonderful environment in which the hope and aspiration can come alive.
