The Bishop of Birmingham, the Rt Revd David Urquhart, Convenor of the Lords Spiritual, has welcomed the appointment of Colin Bloom as Faith Engagement Adviser at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Mr Bloom will lead a review into how the Government should engage with faith groups in England.

Bishop David said: “I am delighted that the Government has appointed a Faith Engagement Adviser.

“Colin Bloom brings a wealth of experience of faith in action across the UK.

“The announcement is particularly welcome in Birmingham where the diverse practice of faith plays a significant role in civil society.

“I look forward to working with Colin at local and national levels and widening the understanding of the contribution of lived religion for the good of all.”
