The Church Commissioners for England have today been welcomed into the PRI Leaders Group for 2020. A prestigious group of investors who show excellence in their approach to environmental, social and governance issues.

This is the second time the Church Commissioners have been named as one of the 36 PRI Leaders. Only 4% of all asset owners made it to the PRI leaders groups.

The Principles for Responsible Investment, brings together 2,400 signatories, institutional investors and asset managers. Among these 2,400 companies, the PRI has identified a group of 36 leaders, 20 institutional investors and 16 asset managers, considered by the organisation to be leading the way, especially on climate reporting.

The key theme for this year’s PRI leaders group is climate reporting, an area in which the Church Commissioners have a strong track record of engagement with companies to achieve shared outcomes in line with the Paris Agreement.

Speaking following the announcement, Gareth Mostyn, Chief Executive of the Church Commissioners for England said:

“We are delighted to receive this recognition of our work on climate reporting, a key area in the field of responsible investment.  This is credit to the hard work of the Church Commissioners’ investment team, who actively consider our ethical principles in the ways we manage all the parts of our diverse investment portfolio. The Church Commissioners continue to champion the consideration of environmental, social and governance matters in the investment industry, driving forward our long-held and clear ambition to be at the forefront of responsible investment.”
