The Church Commissioners for England won IPE’s award for Impact Investment at the European pension publication’s annual awards event.
IPE Awards Aaron Pinnock on behalf of Church Commissioners

Aaron Pinnock, Senior Impact Analyst at the Church Commissioners for England, commented: “It’s a real privilege to be recognised among esteemed colleagues from across the investment industry for our Impact focussed work. Making a difference through Impact is a clear demonstration of us living out our responsible investment principles, while also delivering a strong financial return for our beneficiaries.”

The judges commented: “The Church Commissioners is a leader in impact investing, using their endowment to make a difference and have a real world impact. This is a well understood, systemic approach to impact investing.”

Recent impact investments by the Church Commissioners include the development of newly built social supported housing in the UK designed to ease the considerable shortfall in the provision of these properties. Earlier this year, the Commissioners also seeded a £16m Social Impact Investment fund, designed to focus on ‘impact-first’ investments. That fund recently made its first investment to provide safe, stable and affordable homes for vulnerable women and their children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The Commissioners have also been leading work within the Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance on Climate Solutions investing to develop comparable reporting of such investments across global asset owners.
