Explore your calling

A person with hands open in prayer

In Autumn 2024, we are holding a series of three exciting events for those who are disabled or neurodivergent, who wish to explore their sense of calling to ministry within the Church.

Our speakers

We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming as our keynote speakers:

  • At Derby: Haydon Spenceley - Peterborough Diocese Director of Ordinands and Lynda Herbert - Licensed Lay Minister, Derby Diocese Disability Inclusion Action Group member
  • At Salisbury: Alice Kemp - Bristol Diocese Lead on Disability, Mental Health and Dementia, Dean of Women's Ministry and Holly Newton - Salisbury Diocese Curate and Researcher
  • At Oxford: Katie Tupling - Chair of Diocesan Disability Adviser Network, Oxford DDA, author

Drawing directly from their own lived experience, our speakers will share their stories and talk about the ways in which the Church is working towards greater inclusion and accessibility.

You can read more about them by clicking on this link:

Diocesan Disability Advisers will also be there, with plenty of opportunity during the morning to chat with them and ask questions.

Dates, times and venues

The events will be held on Saturday mornings, starting at 10am and ending at 1:30pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

The dates for this series in Autumn 2024 will be as follows:

We've chosen these venues because they are fully accessible, with step-free access throughout, hearing-aid loops available, and full audio-visual technology so all attendees will be able to participate easily and fully. There is parking available either on-site or nearby, and they are each within just a few miles of a mainline railway station.

Is it for me?

Our Vocational Event series aims to give you:

  • new inspiration about ministry, lay or ordained, within the church
  • more understanding of how others have pursued their sense of calling
  • the chance to consider what God might be saying to you in your own context
  • practical suggestions for what to do next to explore your calling.

Any questions? No problem - just email [email protected] and we'll be happy to help.

These are strictly ticketed events and spaces are limited - book your place now!
