High Speed 2 rail link

The Cathedral and Church Buildings Division regularly responds to consultations on major projects affecting churches.

One major project is the potential effect of High Speed 2 (HS2), a planned high-speed railway between London and the English Midlands, Northern England, and potentially central Scotland, on the church buildings that lie near to the proposed line.

The route would take the form of a "Y", with a central line between London and Birmingham, and then two separate sections, one to Manchester, and another to Leeds via the East Midlands.
