20/05/2025

Discover the reflections, resources and content sharing opportunities available to churches as we commemorate the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed.

2025 marks the 1,700th anniversary of the original development of the Nicene Creed at the Council of Nicaea in 325. As Christians around the world commemorate this pivotal moment for the church, we have produced a number of resources, entitled ‘We Believe’, to help churches, groups and individuals get involved, including digital resources.

It was wonderful to see so many people tune into our webinar launching the resources, but in case you missed it, find out more about what’s on offer below and get some ideas as you start to plan social media content for the summer.

We Believe resources

Church House Publishing has produced a series of reflections, We Believe: Exploring the Nicene Creed. This resource unpacks the significance of each part of the creed through daily biblical reflections, which offer prompts to reflect and pray. These are available to access in the following ways:

  • Booklets: Ideal for giving away at services and using with groups, new printed We Believe reflections booklets are available to order now from Church House Publishing, as single copies or packs of ten. You can also view downloadable sample pages here

  • Daily reflections via Everyday Faith app: You will be able to read and listen to all twenty-four daily We Believe reflections from 16 June through the Everyday Faith app, the Church of England’s daily devotional app, which is available to download here. The reflections will be available on the app for 90 days after they finish, in case it is more convenient for your church to use them later in the year.

Ideas for your digital content

There are many ways you could unpack the content of the Nicene Creed and the We Believe resources online. If your church is planning to use them, why not get thinking now about how you could create related digital content that will engage and inspire?

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Post video reflections or blogs of your own based on the daily themes in the We Believe booklet

  • Record a video of members of your congregation saying the creed, either together or with a different person saying each line. In the past, we have shared The Lord’s Prayer in this way on our national social media channels, including in British Sign Language

  • Is the creed sung as part of services at your church? Share a video of your choir doing this

  • Are there any interesting aspects of your church that connect to parts of the creed, such as stained glass depictions, carvings or paintings? Share posts about these with a short prayer or reflection

  • Perhaps people in your congregation have a story about the significance of the creed in their journey of faith – could they make a video or write a blog sharing more about this?

  • The We Believe resources share simple daily prompts for prayer and reflection. Share these with your community on social media, encouraging everyone get involved – replying with their thoughts in the comments if they wish
