The Data Analysis, Research and Evaluation (DARE) Unit helps the Church of England learn and make informed safeguarding decisions. As part of the National Safeguarding Team, we use data analysis, research, and evaluation to understand what is working well, identify areas for improvement, and support safer practices across the Church.
Evidence matters. By analysing information, evaluating programmes, and carrying out varied research studies, we help ensure that safeguarding policies and activities are shaped by people's experiences across the church, and what has the greatest impact. Our work supports learning, accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across parishes, dioceses, cathedrals, and national safeguarding programmes.
We share our findings openly wherever possible to help inform conversations, strengthen practice, and support the Church's ongoing commitment to safeguarding.
