Safeguarding Structures Reform Programme

In February 2025, General Synod voted to reform Church safeguarding structures. The Safeguarding Structures Reform Programme is the name of the programme set up to deliver these changes.

Speaking to General Synod in February 2026, Dame Christine Ryan, set out her vision and the programme's primary goals:

Strengthen Safeguarding: Improve the quality and consistency of service across all Church bodies.

Rebuild Trust: Foster confidence through greater strategic and operational independence and rigorous external scrutiny.

Under Dame Christine's leadership, the programme team has been progressing the work to deliver this vision and advance safeguarding reform in the Church.
