A statement from the Bishop of London following the Government announcement that church buildings will be able to reopen for public worship from 4th July

The Church of England has published new advice to help parish churches and cathedrals prepare to reopen their buildings for public worship after more than three months of lockdown because of the coronavirus.

Emily Gee has been appointed Director for Cathedral and Church Buildings for the Church of England. 

NEWS / The Appointments Committee of General Synod has announced the membership of the Steering Committee to take charge of the preparation of draft legislation to enable women to become bishops.

NEWS / Nearly 300 Church of England parishes are to receive grants for urgent repairs to their church roofs in the second round of awards from the Listed Places of Worship Roof Repair Fund.

NEWS / The Rt Hon Sir Tony Baldry MP has been appointed by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to become the next Chair of the Church Buildings Council when he stands down as Second Estates Commissioner at the end of this Parliament. He succeeds Anne Sloman OBE.

All Church of England churches are to close with immediate effect in an effort to help save lives by limiting the transmission of the coronavirus COVID-19.
