Summary National Safeguarding Steering Group (NSSG) November 2023

The House of Bishops met on the evening of Monday 23rd November, in the margins of Synod, and approved the Religious Communities Regulations 2020  as set out in (GS 2192) (“the Regulations”). 

The House has now reverted to a schedule of monthly meetings with this meeting being the meeting for November.

FEATURE / The Church of England’s digital communications team has trained more than 200 parishes in social media and writing for the web.

Safe Spaces is planned as a vital support service for survivors of church-related abuse across the Church of England and the Catholic Church in England and Wales.

FEATURE / The Church of England has more than doubled its monthly reach on social media this year, from 1.2 million in 2017 to 2.44 million in 2017/2018.

NEWS / The Bishop of Durham, Paul Butler, lead bishop on safeguarding has issued a statement today following various media comments on his recent contribution in the House of Lords regarding Bishop George Bell.
