Thinking about where our food comes from, being thankful for it and remembering those who don’t have as much as we do helps children to recognise the blessing of ‘our daily bread’.

Micah Liverpool, the social justice charity based at Liverpool Cathedral, has seen demand at its food banks rise by around 40% since lockdown 

 

A food bank founded by a church has seen demand surge by 500 per cent during lockdown as elderly and vulnerable people unable to get to shops because of shielding and self-isolating receive help.

A second food bank has been opened by a church during lockdown as demand for food parcels has risen eight-fold in its area during the pandemic.

Our community guidelines have been created to encourage conversations that reflect our values. They apply to all content posted on the national social media accounts run by the Church of England, the Archbishop of Canterbury and Archbishop of York. 

Food, clothing and items from toothpaste to soap are being collected in Church of England parishes over Harvest Festival to supply food banks and support homeless and vulnerable people.

Analysis for the Trussell Trust shows that nearly 100,000 households sought food aid from its network of food banks for the first time in April and June as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
