The Church of England’s General Synod today welcomed the Church Commissioners’ and Archbishops’ Council’s long term spending plans.  

Up to £155 million of additional investment is proposed over the next three years by the Church of England to fund an increase in number of people coming forward to train for the priesthood and support cathedrals and disadvantaged areas, under plans announced today.

The Church Commissioners for England, which manages a £10.1 billion endowment fund to provide long-term financial support for the mission and ministry of the Church of England, has raised £550 million, made up of a £250 million Sustainability Bond with a 10-year maturity and a £300 million conventional bond with a 30-year maturity.

The Church of England Pensions Board (CEPB) has agreed a £50m revolving credit facility with NatWest that will help grow its retirement housing portfolio. 

The Church of England Pensions Board (“the Board”) is today announcing it has completed a £145m “buy-in” with Aviva, the insurance, wealth and retirement provider.

Sir Robert Buckland has been appointed the new Third Church Estates Commissioner, succeeding the Rt Revd Dr Flora Winfield, who was recently appointed Bishop of Selby.
