The Church Commissioners for England has today joined a network of like-minded investment managers and asset owners, to engage with, and steward companies through, digital governance best practices – an urgent concern in an increasingly digitalized society. 

The Church Commissioners for England, who manage assets worth £8.7bn, including large land holdings in the UK, are the first investor to join a new Program to develop a framework that will help businesses tackle nature loss in line with science.

Today in Davos, the Church of England’s three National Investing Bodies (NIBS) representing over £12 billion in assets under management, have joined the United Nations-convened Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance.

The Church of England has today launched new resources to help churches to take part in ‘Generosity Week.’ 

The Church Commissioners for England and Church of England Pensions Board alongside a group of leading global investors have written to 36 of Europe’s largest companies through the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC).

The Church Commissioners for England are recognised as global leaders in Responsible Investment, specifically for our approach to environmental issues, and were recently the first investor to join a programme to develop science-based nature targets for businesses. 

To celebrate a long-standing relationship with two of our farming tenants, Alan Smith, the First Church Estates Commissioner, visited our Navestock Estate in Essex earlier this week to present an English Oak tree to the respective families. 

Bess Joffe, Head of Responsible Investment at the Church Commissioners for England, participated in a panel discussion hosted by Reuters about Transitional Risks to net zero and joined the Green Alliance to discuss what is next for green finance and climate disclosure.
