Call for a period of prayer leading up to the Coronation as book of Daily Prayers is shared

Churches around the country are marking the first anniversary of the Death of the Late Queen Elizabeth and King Charles’ Accession to the throne.
 

Cathedrals will be floodlit in the colours of the Ukrainian flag, candles will be lit and services, prayer vigils across the country in churches to mark the first anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

For the first time, under historic plans outlined today, same-sex couples will be able to come to church to give thanks for their civil marriage or civil partnership and receive God’s blessing.

As the country prepares to celebrate the Coronation of the King and Queen at Westminster Abbey, more than 2,000 local events have been registered by Church of England churches.

The Church of England’s General Synod has called on the bishops to take the next step to issue prayers which would enable same-sex couples to come to church after a civil marriage or civil partnership to give thanks, dedicate their relationship to God and receive God’s blessing.
