October marks the start of Black History Month in the UK, an occasion to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of black people to British economy, culture, and history.

Black composers, musicians and singers are to be celebrated as part of a series of events, from exhibitions and lectures to services and study days marking Black History Month in Cathedrals and churches across the country.
 

Churches, cathedrals and dioceses are marking Black History Month with events ranging from services of thanksgiving to study days, poetry, workshops and films.

October marks the beginning of Black History Month, a national celebration promoting and celebrating the contributions of those with African and Caribbean heritage to British society and to foster an understanding of Black history in general.

Racial Justice Sunday is for all churches to reflect on the importance of racial justice, to give thanks for the gifts and beauty of human diversity, and to commit to end racism and acts of discrimination.
