The Anglican church in England and Wales is one of 13 investigations being looked at by IICSA, the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, chaired by Professor Jay.

IICSA published its interim report on Wednesday 25 April 2018.

IICSA held its first public hearing into the Church of England, in March 2018,  focusing on the diocese of Chichester as a case study.

Archbishops pastoral letter and closing statements 

The Inquiry looked at themes including the experiences of victims and survivors and the Church’s response to them and the culture of the Church. The Church of England has submitted 25,000 documents and 38 witness statements. 

The next hearing will be into the Church's handling of the Bishop Peter Ball case (July 23-27) with a preliminary hearing on Wednesday June 6.
