   O Lord, who could stand?

3  But there is forgiveness with you, ♦
   so that you shall be feared.

4  I wait for the Lord; my soul waits for him; ♦
   in his word is my hope.

5  My soul waits for the Lord,
      more than the night watch for the morning, ♦

Father, we commend to your faithful love
those who are crying from the depths;

Restless with grief and fear,
the abandoned turn to you:
in every hour of trial,
good Lord, deliver us,
O God most holy, God most strong,
whose wisdom is the cross of Christ.

hide me within your wounds
and never let me be separated from you.

in the hour of my death, call me
and bid me come to you,
so that with your saints I may praise you
for ever and ever.
