The Communications Office at Church House, Westminster, provides a 24-hour, seven day a week service on behalf of the National Church Institutions, including the Archbishops' Council, the Church Commissioners and the Church of England Pensions Board.

Rachel Harden Co-Director of Communications (Interim) Deputy Director

Leading on safeguarding communications both internally and externally working closely with Lambeth, Bishopthorpe and dioceses. Politics degree/NCTJ journalism/CIPR diploma in crisis comms. Reporter on Liverpool Daily Post plus 15 years as freelancer including Church Times and BBC campaigns. Since May 2017 she is the acting co-director of communciations serving on an interim basis with Mark Arena.

Mark Arena

Mark Arena Co-Director of Communications (Interim) and Head of Financial Communications

Mark leads on finance communications for the Church of England including the Church Commissioners and Pensions Board. He joins following a twenty year career in investment banking and financial communications. In his most recent role he was Global Head of Communications and Marketing for the investment banking arm of Deutsche Bank AG. Since May 2017 he is the acting co-director of communciations serving on an interim basis with Rachel Harden.

Adrian Harris Head of Digital Communications
Adrian has worked in the digital and social media sector for ten years at organisations including the Conservative Party, Tesco and Bupa. He joined the Church of England in October 2016 and is responsible for leading and delivering the Church of England's digital and social transformation programme. Outside of work, Adrian is a Churchwarden and Non-Executive Director of St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, London.

John Bingham 1

John Bingham Head of Media

John worked as journalist in national media for 15 years, most recently as Social and Religious Affairs Editor on the Daily and Sunday Telegraph. His previous roles include as a senior reporter on the Daily Telegraph and Chief Reporter at the Press Association. He joined the Church of England Communications Office in January 2017 and oversees the day to day work of the media team.

Martha Linden small

Martha Linden Senior Media Officer
Martha focuses on the CofE's work on parliamentary and public affairs, across a broad range of issues including banking reform, foodbanks, prisons, medical ethics, international affairs and domestic policy.  She also works on media for the Church Urban Fund. Martha has a background in journalism and previously worked for the Press Association for 16 years.

Anna Small

Anna McCrum Senior Media Officer

Anna joined the Archbishops' Council in October 2015 and leads on media relations for the Education Office and the Cathedrals and Church Buildings Division. A solicitor by training, Anna has worked in legal publishing for PLC Publications and for the Church of England at St Albans Diocese and St Albans Cathedral.

Talitha Proud Digital Communications Officer
As Digital Media officer, Tallie is responsible for the organisation's social media accounts including Facebook and Twitter alongside updating the Church of England website when necessary. With a background in photography and design she will be co-ordinating with internal departments and working with dioceses on their digital media needs. She previously worked in communications for Chichester Diocese.

Nardine Soloman Marketing Officer
Nardine's responsibilities include coordinating the media and communications training programme for Bishops and managing a portfolio of media workshops and seminars attended by Church and Charity sector employees nationally. Nardine has previously held events & marketing positions for leading charities, educational bodies and media organisations. She originally studied philosophy at university and has taught in sixth form and adult education colleges.

Ben Hollebon


Ben Hollebon  Digital Content Producer

Ben's responsibilities revolve around supporting the Communications Office with creative input and design work, as well as being involved in digital communications. His background is in Marketing and Digital Design, previously working for Memralife Group who run Spring Harvest.

Chris Le Marquand Communications Officer
Chris is part of the Communications team focusing on issues relating to the Church Commissioners and Pensions Board. He previously headed up communications for a network of churches, and before that worked in parliament and public affairs. He has a degree in History from Oxford University.

 Ekene Oboko

Ekene Oboko Media Officer

Ekene's responsibilities involve supporting the media team with audio content for the "Stories Worth Sharing" strand.  Previously she held the role of Assistant Producer for CTVC -  a media company, producing documentaries and digital content exploring religion, and social issues. As assistant producer, she produced podcasts for the company's audio website and CTVC's clients.

Shirell Adams Finance Officer
As Finance Officer for the Communications & CHP team Shirell is responsible for all finance related matters including handling & arranging payment of invoices, invoicing, monitoring budgets and financial  reporting and management accounting for CHP sales. Shirell joined the Church of England in 2007 working firstly in the Accounts department as a Accounts Receivable Officer after completing her degree in Accounting & Finance. Shirell is currently studying to be a chartered certified Accountant.

Sophia Panteli Personal Assistant

As a Personal Assistant to the Communications Team, Sophia provides administrative support for the Director of Communications, media team and the communications office as a whole. Working closely with the Director of Communications, Sophia assists in both daily tasks and specific projects. Previously, Sophia has worked within the NHS and has a degree in photography.

Suzanne Gray Projects Officer
Suzanne is Projects Officer for the Projects and Developments team, which is running the Baptisms and Funerals projects and also the continuing work on the Weddings Project. Previously she worked in marketing for a music examination board and for the National Blood Service.
