National Redress Scheme blog

13/12/2023

A new blog on the Church of England’s National Redress Scheme is providing a space for survivors and victims of Church-related abuse to reflect on what redress might mean for them. As well as contributions from survivors, the Redress Blog will also include updates from Church leaders and others involved with the Scheme on the progress the Church is making in developing the National Redress Scheme.

When it is available, the National Redress Scheme will offer eligible applicants financial awards as well as other forms of redress such as therapeutic, spiritual and emotional support, acknowledgment of wrongdoing on the part of the Church, and apology and support for rebuilding lives.

In November, General Synod overwhelmingly approved the first consideration of the draft Redress Measure which makes legal provision for the creation of the Scheme.
