The work of the Digital team at Church House is part of Renewal & Reform – helping us become a growing Church for all people and for all places.
The Digital team is based in the Communications department but is also part of the recently established Evangelism & Discipleship team. This enables the team to maximise output with colleagues across the organisation.
There are six people in the team, all with extensive website, social media and design experience from a range of other organisations.
The team has three key areas of work:
- Campaigning, particularly on sharing the good work of churches.
These are underpinned by the Church having a strong and growing social media presence, transformed national websites and using technologies such as voice and apps.
The work is focused on supporting, equipping, and enabling local churches.
The team started work in October 2016 and is still very much at the start of this digital journey. The aim is to try initiatives out, take risks for the Gospel, share the good news of Jesus Christ, and work at pace in such a fast-changing area.
The team won ‘digital in-house team of the year’ in October 2018 at the national Digital Impact Awards in London. In addition, the Church of England was awarded gold for:
Other recent successes include:
- Rebuilding A Church Near You, the Church of England website, and supporting the Archbishops’ teams with their sites – all redeveloped in less than one year
- Developed integrated print and digital Lent, Advent, Christmas and ordinary time campaigns that reach millions each year
- Launched Digital Labs
- Developed an Alexa skill
