In this blog, we want to give you some inspiration from other churches and show you some great examples of churches using social media in the lead up to Christmas.
Doing some posts like the ones below in the days before Christmas can encourage people in your community to come along to your services, it’s never too late to invite people! An added bonus is that if people can see posts about services or events they have already attended, it can lead to higher engagement (likes, comments and shares) and strengthen the connection people have with your church.
You could also use the photos you take now in the promotion of your services next Christmas!
Reflect on previous events
A great piece of content to post on your social media channels this Christmas are pictures from events that have already taken place. Below are some examples of churches doing just this. Seeing people's smiling faces at services and events is really welcoming for people considering coming to church.
This post from St Matthew's Church, Burnley, showcases the highlights from their nativity service. Click here to see it on Facebook.
Revd Craig Philbrick shares images from carols in the church's local pub! Click here to see it on X.
All Saints Church, Steep, share beautiful images of their church being used for three carol services. Click here to see it on X.
St Mary's Church, Portsea, used #FollowTheStar and #jointhesong to reflect on their Little Learners Nativity and Christmas singing! Click here to see it on X.
Invite people to upcoming services
Invite people in your community to your church this Christmas by letting them know the dates and times of your services and events.
St Michael's Church (@bramhallcofe) shared a lovely 'What's on' Christmas post on their Instagram using Follow the Star branding. Click here to see it on Instagram.
Kingsthorpe Churches posted a nice graphic with their logo on it to advertise carol singing outside Waitrose! We love the idea of doing something like carol singing out in the community. Click here to see it on Facebook.
This Instagram post from Hope Family Church is a great example of engaging your audience by asking them a question ('What's your favourite Christmas carol?' in this case), and then inviting them to a service at your church in the caption. Click here to see it on Instagram.
We hope those examples have given you some inspiration for the kinds of things you could be posting in the next few days before Christmas! See below for some useful resources to help you out along the way.
