Anna Kraus signs as CTE President

Churches Together in England (CTE) is the national ecumenical instrument supporting and encouraging churches from a wide range of traditions to work together in unity.

With churches drawn from the Anglican, Catholic, Pentecostal, Charismatic, Orthodox and Lutheran traditions, as well as Free Churches, Quakers and others, CTE unites one of the broadest range of churches in the whole of Europe.

Churches Together in England is represented by Presidents from the major traditions of our Member Churches.

There are six Presidents of Churches Together in England, who each sign a Covenant which describes their commitment to each other and to the churches in England.

CTE’s Presidents meet regularly and liaise on a wide variety of issues of common interest and concern. Their meetings are facilitated by Mike Royal, General Secretary of CTE.

Dr Anna Krauss is the President for the Fourth Presidency Group and General Secretary of the Council of Lutheran Churches in Great Britain.  She has a doctorate in theology and has worked as an Old Testament scholar and expert in early biblical manuscripts at Heidelberg University and the University of Oxford.

Alongside her academic studies and research, she has nurtured her passion for ecumenism in theory and practice as an associate at the EKD ecumenical institute in Germany (Konfessionskundliches Institut Bensheim) and as a member of ecumenical societies both in Germany and the UK.

She signed the CTE Covenant at the Presidents meeting in October 2023.  The meeting discussed a range of issues including the recent events in Israel and Gaza.
