The Church of St Mary and St David (Diocese of Hereford) is Grade I-listed Norman building and a Major Parish Church in Kilpeck. When a routine quinquennium inspection flagged that the lead flashings on the roof had deteriorated, it was decided that early action would be needed, to avoid more disruptive and expensive work in the future. Indeed, as a result of heavy rain, damp had begun to travel down into the building, damaging old plasterwork. By discovering the problem early and applying for the appropriate grants, the church ultimately avoided more significant historic fabric damage and financial burden.
