My name is Kieran Bohan.

The Diocese of Liverpool commissioned me in 2016 as a lay Missional Leader to support the development of the Open Table Network (OTN), a growing partnership of Christian worship communities which welcome and affirm people who are: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer or Questioning (LGBTQ) + our families, friends and all our allies. The first Open Table community began in Liverpool in 2008 - it now supports communities across England and Wales. I mentored many LGBTQ+ young people aged 13-25 during ten years as a youth worker in a secular charity until 2015. Heather Cracknell, Head of Development for Fresh Expressions, recommended me for the Church of England Mentor Directory because of my experience of mentoring lay and ordained leaders to host Open Table communities for LGBTQ+ Christians and our allies across the UK since 2015. I have supported more than 100 churches to explore this ministry and nurtured more than 20 communities.

In 2016 I trained as an Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator with the Appreciating Church project, which has led me to mentoring a senior leader in another denomination and supporting initial ministerial education for new ministers. In 2019 I completed the Journey of Hope pilgrimage in peace-making and reconciliation led by Reconcilers Together which led me to mentoring an Anglican vicar on a similar course.

I am well suited to mentoring lay people in church leadership, LGBTQ+ people (lay or ordained), plus people engaged in peace-making and reconciliation, or asset-based community development / Appreciative Inquiry in their communities. Please get in touch to explore how I might help you to help yourself to be all you can be, with God's help.
